What you keep with Robin

A driver with € 4,500 in monthly fares pays something different on every platform. Until 1 January he pays Robin nothing at all.

At € 4,500 in monthly fares what the platform keeps
PlatformPer monthPer year
A platform at 25% € 1.125 € 13.500
A cooperative at 3% € 135 € 1.620
Robin, until 1 January € 0 —
€ 1.125 per month

That is how much more you keep every month than on a platform that takes a quarter. Calculated with Robin Fixed. Until 1 January Robin costs you nothing. If you drive little, Robin Flex can work out cheaper.

Until 1 January 2027

€ 0 per month

No subscription, no commission. You use Robin without paying us a single euro. We have to show it is worth something first.

Robin Fixed, from 1 January 2027

€ 99 per month, incl. VAT

The commission stays at zero percent after that too. Every euro of every fare is yours. Best value if you drive a lot.

Robin Flex, from 1 January 2027

15% per ride, excl. VAT

No subscription. You only pay on what you drive. Handy if you are just starting or expect few rides.

Deliver first, ask for something later

Up to and including 31 December 2026 Robin costs you nothing. No subscription, no commission per trip. Only from 1 January do you pay: € 99 a month with no commission on Robin Fixed, or 15% per ride with no subscription on Robin Flex.

If Robin has brought you nothing by then, you have paid nothing.

You choose when you sign up and can switch yourself in the app, under Profile, Subscription. A switch made on or before the 25th starts on the first of the next month; after that, the month after. Cancel monthly. Bank transaction costs are passed on exactly as we pay them, with no mark-up. So on a cash trip you pay none.

Already driving a taxi? Do not start over

You have probably filled in your details more than once already. Robin QuickStart uses what is there and only asks for what is missing.

1
Where do you drive now?

Another platform, your own customers, or nowhere yet. One question.

2
We pull out what we can

From your chamber of commerce number and your number plate. Nothing to retype.

3
You only fill the gap

We show what we already have and what is still missing. Nothing more.

What we do not do

We never ask for your password for any other platform. We do not look inside your account there. What you give us, you give yourself.

Robin still does its own checks afterwards. QuickStart makes filling in faster, not the verification looser.

How to start

Three steps, all on your phone. If you already drive a taxi, QuickStart skips most of it.

1

A few minutes. You need your number plate and your KVK number. We do not ask for scans of your driving licence, ID or driver card. No VOG certificate needed either: it is already part of your driver card.

2

We check your number plate

With the RDW: is the car registered as a taxi, with a valid MOT and insurance. You are usually approved within half an hour and get a message about it.

3

You start driving

Set your status to online and rides come in. You only start paying from the month after your first trip.

Our fare card, next to the legal maximum

Every Dutch taxi carries a fare card. This is Robin’s, alongside what the law allows in 2026. This is what the passenger pays. On the fixed plan the full amount goes to the driver.

Robin fare card Passenger car, 1 to 4 people
ComponentRobinMax. 2026
Starting fare € 2,50 € 4,31
Per kilometre € 1,40 € 3,17
Per minute € 0,30 € 0,52
Minutes count too, just like the meter. Five kilometres through the Jordaan at half past five costs a driver three times the time of five kilometres on the A10. A fare that looks only at distance does not pay for that time.
Robin tariff card, taxi van Taxi van, 5 to 8 people or with a wheelchair
ComponentRobinMax. 2026
Starting fare € 7,10 € 8,77
Per kilometre € 2,45 € 4,00
Per minute € 0,35 € 0,59
A ride for 5 to 8 people, or with a wheelchair, uses the van tariff. The law classifies by seats, not by accessibility, so a wheelchair van falls under this tariff. Such a ride only goes to vehicles that fit according to the RDW, and with a wheelchair only to wheelchair vans. This too is what the passenger pays. Maximums: Dutch government, 2026.
A short 2.5 km trip costs € 8,70 Across the city, 8 km € 20,30 To Schiphol, 17 km € 33,80

The same trip, always the same price

Many platforms charge more when it is busy. That is called surge pricing and it is right there in their terms. At Robin it does not exist.

Tuesday afternoon
€ 14,00
Friday 18:00, rush hour
€ 14,00
Saturday 02:00
€ 14,00
Rain, New Year's Eve
€ 14,00

A 5 km trip in 15 minutes. The amount depends on distance and time, not on how many people happen to want a taxi.

What you get now
  • A fixed price you see beforehand
  • Book a trip in advance with a 15, 30 or 60 minute window
  • A pickup code, so you get into the right car
  • Share your trip live with someone you trust
  • No app store needed
What is still coming
  • Paying in the app, alongside cash
  • Your trip history and receipts
  • Wider coverage as more drivers join

That is not there yet. We would rather say what is coming than pretend it already exists.

How Robin came about

A taxi driver works long days and keeps too little. That is not a new insight. It is the daily reality of thousands of people in this country.

What bothered me is not that platforms make money. That comes with the territory. What bothered me is that nobody knows exactly how much, and that the percentage can change without the driver having any say.

Robin was not bought from a vendor. Every line was written for this market. Built by Andy Pluijmen, from Amsterdam, under Alpha Omega Agency. Not thought up alone: it was shaped together with his co-founders, who know what the work looks like from the inside. What a driver needs from an app was not assumed, it was asked.

The past months of evenings and weekends went into a booking app, a driver app, a fare engine and the infrastructure beneath it.

Robin does not need the app store, and that is a choice. No download, no update to approve, and nothing to install just to check a price. If you would rather get it from Google Play, you can, since 7 October.

There is a fox with a bow, and a conviction we cannot let go of: that it can be fairer, and that someone simply has to build it.

When I start working somewhere, I give myself a hundred days to show I add something. I am doing the same with Robin. I can tell a driver what this will mean for him, but I would rather he found out himself. That is why Robin costs nothing until 1 January. If it has brought you nothing by then, you have paid nothing.

That we open while Robin Hood is back in cinemas is coincidence. But it is the right kind of coincidence. For eight hundred years the story has been about the same thing: someone giving back to the people who do the work.

What is possible now

Honest about what is and is not there. Robin was built by Andy Pluijmen, Alpha Omega Agency.

Now

Robin and Robin Driver are in Google Play

On Android you download both apps from Google Play. On iPhone they work in Safari, also from the home screen. The iPhone apps are waiting for approval from Apple.

Now

Drivers sign up, without scans

In the Netherlands and Belgium. Robin checks the number plate and company details, you do not upload any documents. You are usually approved within half an hour.

Now

Passengers book at the real price

Enter two addresses and Robin calculates the trip over the actual route. That price is fixed. You pay the driver directly: cash, card or payment request.

Now

A ride goes to drivers nearby

Your request goes to several online drivers at once. Whoever accepts first drives.

After that

More drivers, in more places

How fast you find a driver depends on how many drivers are online. That grows week by week. I am not going to pretend every city is already covered.

Robin is open

Drivers can sign up now. Passengers see the real price of every trip before they book.
